Corey (2016) raises the question as to whether there are problem clients or just problem leaders. Is it correct to label a client as problematic, or should we identify problem behaviors instead?
 

For this task you will write a paper in which you compare and contrast the viewpoints of Corey and Yalom. Address the following issues in your paper:

• How different or similar are Corey’s viewpoint of successful factors in groups as compared to Yalom’s ideas of therapeutic factors? 
• Yalom’s studies on therapeutic factors are now nearly a decade old. Does current research support his findings? 
• When Corey talks about problem behaviors, and Yalom talks about problem clients how different or similar are their viewpoints? Explain and give examples. 
• Summarize your paper by drawing a conclusion as to whether there are significant differences between the viewpoints of these two scholar practitioners or if they are speaking about different phenomena in perhaps a different set of terms? 

Support your analysis with at least three other articles published in peer-reviewed journals in the past five years.
 

Length: 5-7 pages (Not including title and reference pages)
 

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.

Assignment:

1. Create a PowerPoint Presentation on one of the topics discussed in your textbook:
   1. The self,
   2. social beliefs & judgments,
   3. behaviors & attitudes,
   4. conformity & obedience,
   5. persuasion,
   6. group influence,
   7. prejudice,
   8. aggression,
   9. attraction & intimacy,
   10. helping, or
   11. Social Psychology in the clinic or court.
2. Include in your PowerPoint Presentation:
   1. Definition and topic overview.
   2. Define and describe 3 key terms or topics within the larger topic. For example if you picked “the self” as your overall topic, you could then present on self-esteem, self-serving bias, and perceived self-control.
   3. These terms can all be found within your book – use your book. Do not use direct quotes, rather understand the concept well enough to use your own words.  If a direct quote is absolutely necessary, please be sure to cite it using APA format.
   4. 3 research study examples (please find these outside of the textbook, use PsychInfo through NU Library to find peer-reviewed journal articles). For each article, include the following details:
      1. What was the hypothesis or research questions of the researchers?
      2. What did they do?
      3. What did they find?
      4. What are the implications for real world application?
      5. Be sure to uses citations when referring to your journal articles
   5. Include pictures throughout the slides (1 per slide if possible) and/or video clips (2-3 within the presentation) to enhance your presentation.
   6. The content on the PowerPoint Presentation should not be wordy, it should give main points and brief statements. You can expand on your points in the “notes” section of your PowerPoint Presentation if you feel more content is needed.

Instructions:

• Length:  PowerPoint should include at least 15 slides (maximum 25).
• Style:  Professional and not content heavy. For example use bullet points rather than write in full sentences when possible. (Write within the “notes” section of the PowerPoint to expand as noted in point f. above).
• References:  Include citations throughout the PowerPoint (textbook and the three research articles).  Your last slide should be a list of references. Your citations and reference section should be in APA style.

(2012) and/or American Psychological Association (2010). You need to have scholarly support for any claim of fact or recommendation regarding treatment. APA format also requires headings. As a professional, it is important for you to accurately assess a client’s capabilities so that you can support him or her in achieving and sustaining employment.To prepare for this Discussion:

• Review this week’s      Learning Resources focusing on the information regarding clients with      disabilities.
• Select one of the      functional limitations described on pp. 444–451.
• Consider what a functional      capacity evaluation and job analysis might mean/entail for a client with a      functional limitation in the area you have chosen to focus on.
• Think about whether or not      each of the following vocational rehabilitation services might be      appropriate for this client: Work-Adjustment Training, Job-Seeking Skills      Training, Supported Employment, and Assistive Technology.

With these thoughts in mind: Post by Day 4 a description of a functional limitation and how it might impact a client’s career development. Explain what value a functional capacity evaluation and job analysis might hold for a client with this functional limitation.
